There are two main types of telephone systems today:

[image]Time division multiplex (TDM) telephone systems have been the industry standard since
the early 1990’s. Known to most laymen as digital, this technology is known for its work horse reliability, and providing a user friendly type of telephone system.

Voice Over IP Telephone Systems (VoIP) – Voice over IP telephone systems are gaining fast on traditional TDM systems. However, most straight VoIP systems still lack features that telephone users have come to expect and can be very difficult to use, especially in small and medium sized organizations. NEC’s Univerge brings together the best of both technologies. With the SV8000 series, the system can be all TDM, all VoIP, or a combination of both.
